NIMCET - 2010

            Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the 3-year full time Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by the NITs located at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal. Admissions to the MCA programme will be made through NIT MCA Common Entrance Test 2010 (NIMCET10) organized jointly by eleven NITs and being conducted by NIT Kurukshetra . Admission will be based on the rank obtained in the NIMCET10 only. The test will be held for duration of two hours and will consist of objective type questions on Mathematics, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English. The application form has to be submitted online using the website (nimcet10.nitkkr.ac.in). You have to sign the hard copy (Printout) at the bottom of each page and attach all the documents / declaration as listed in the check list given in the Information Brochure and then send the form by post. Kindly download the Information Brochure and read it carefully.

ELIGIBILITY

Indian Nationals securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA in each of the examinations of

(i) 12th level with Mathematics and

(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of Full time 3 year duration from a recognized University

With any one of

a. Mathematics

b. Statistics

c. Business Mathematics

d. Discrete Mathematics

e. Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science

f. Business Statistics

g. Computational Mathematics

h. Elementary Mathematics

i. Elementary Statistics

            as one of the subjects. Those who have done Bridge Course in Mathematics are also eligible to apply.

            Students completing degree from Open Universities are also eligible to apply provided their course is approved by UGC/AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.

 

MODE OF EXAMINATION

·         The duration of NIMCET10 examination will be for a period of two hours

·        120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question

·        Each wrongly answered question will lead to NEGATIVE ONE mark.

·        The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets at the time of examination

 

DISTRIBUTION OF QUESTIONS

The question paper will contain 120 multiple choice questions covering the following topics:

1. Mathematics 40 questions

2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning 55 questions

3. Computer Awareness 10 questions

4. General English 15 questions

 

WEB ENABLED ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM

            Interested candidates are required to fill in web enabled on-line application forms from any place of their convenience (any Browsing centre). Also they are required to take a print out of the electronic submission and send it by post along with copies of 10+2+3 (Graduation) Marks Sheets/Certificates and a Demand draft as detailed below to

            Before you start filling in the online application form, scan (a) your recent passport size photograph (alternatively, get a digital passport size photograph) and (b) your signature and keep these ready for uploading. Separate files should be created for the scanned photograph and signature in appropriate format (Jpeg, Tiff, etc) so that the size of each file does not exceed 33KB. Further, you should have your bank draft ready to complete the draft information part of the online application form.

 

APPLICATION FEE

            The Application Fee for the Entrance Examination of the MCA programme is Rs.1000/- for OPEN/OBC. Candidates will have to take Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director NIT Kurukshetra - NIMCET10”, payable at Kurukshetra. Candidates are advised to write their name, address and Mobile/Phone Number on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.

 

ADMIT CARD

            After scrutiny of applications, Admit Card to those found eligible will be made available on the website, http://nimcet10.nitkkr.ac.in. Applicants will be required to download their Admit Card after login to this website. Admit Cards will not be sent separately. The candidates shall have to produce the Admit Card at the Test Centre, counseling centre and PI at the time of admission.
